KONE has won two awards in the “Red Dot Award: Product Design 2014”. The awarded products are RL 20 elevator ceiling light and KSP 858 destination operating panel. The Red Dot Design Award dates back to 1954 and is now one of the world’s largest and most distinguished design competitions. This year, companies and designers from 53 countries submitted a total of 4,815 applications with the intention of proving their design ability in an international comparison with renowned designers and up-and-coming talents.
RL 20 is a ceiling light which features a universal form and minimalistic design that fits most new and old elevator cars. In particular, the light’s geometrical design language in combination with its sophisticated functionality makes it a winning design.
KSP 858 is a destination operating panel with an advanced touch screen. The jury praised the product for its well thought-out and versatile user concept and high performance, which make the operating panel to suit a variety of buildings.
“This modern ceiling light and intuitive touchscreen operating panel are definitely among our leading design innovations. We are extremely honored to have been recognized in such highly appreciated design awards and will continue the good work with our design process,” says Timo Tiainen, Director of Design Solutions, KONE.
Earlier this year, both designs were also acknowledged at the iF product design awards and received honorable mentions in the Fennia Prize 2014. In addition, KONE’s innovative design has been awarded at the prestigious GOOD DESIGN awards three times.
